Just wanted to give you a quick update to let you know that we fixed a bug regarding voting. The bug was new, and only affected the votes of one idea, which was towards the top of the rankings. It basically allowed an individual with the app to look at an idea, log out, try to cast a vote, log-in, and cast multiple votes for an idea. Our backend validation system could easily tell the difference, but it would show as extra votes on the app. Again, we’ve fixed this last night, and corrected the votes for the one idea it affected.
New winner announced:
We’re excited to announce our most recent winner, UV Detector and Sunscreen reminder. A handy app that will let you know your local UV index, and a reminder to know when to reapply sunscreen, or get out of the sun. We’ve just started a new contest cycle too, so look forward to seeing more great ideas and more winners soon. You can read more about the UV Detector here: http://appswell.com/site/idea/385
Also, look for our previous winner, travel app Ivbeen (name still not finalized) hitting the store in recent weeks. Also, we’d really appreciate 5 minutes of your time to take a quick survey http://bit.ly/cmIEnr that will make Appswell better, and enter you for a chance to win one of a handful of iTunes giftcards, and a new version of the app is coming out today, let us know what you think.

New contest cycle starting!
Hi Folks,
Exciting stuff in store for Appswell in the next few days. We’re starting a new contest cycle this week, likely late Wednesday 2/2, which means we’ll be announcing a winner, and sending someone else $1000 very shortly. We also reset the votes every contest cycle, so every idea starts again on even footing, and you’re allowed to cast your one vote for every idea again. If you’re idea is already submitted, it’ll carry over for three contest cycles, giving it a fair chance to rise to the top. This will be the third contest cycle, so everyone’s idea is still safe this time around.
We also have a brand new version 1.2 off to Apple for approval, so look for that soon. It’s got even better, more integrated features to let you share your ideas with your social networks, and, in response to frequent requests, we’ve doubled the length of comments allowed, and provide you a twitter style count-down to let you know when you’re running out of room. It’s also smell enabled, and scented vaguely like lavender and cinnamon. It’s iPad touch enabled! We assume! Because it’s an iPhone app.
It’ll be interesting to see who gets to the top of the pile quickest this time around, some great ideas out there!

Hi Folks,
I wanted to update you on a few voting irregularities we had seen, and let you know what we’re doing about them. There are apparently two holes that just one or two people have exploited that have effected 3-4 ideas. The good news about this is that from our back end, it is very clear which votes are fraudulent, and we’re able to isolate and remove them without them risking the outcome of the contest. We’ve closed one of the holes, and are at work now on closing the other right now. Some ideas effected, if you’re curious, are the CO2 idea currently at the top of the rankings (though we don’t believe that it was tampered with by the submitter) and ideas submitted by Kevtone, who is also MAXMAX and Berliner. Again, while we know it hurts your Appswell experience, and we’re treating this as a high priority to fix, our authentication methods on the back end have made it very certain that these cheaters are moving no closer to winning from these actions.
Your experience and trust in the Appswell community is key, and we want to make sure a few cheaters don’t take away from that. We’ll update you when the fix has occurred as well, and please use the comments to let us know your thoughts, or feedback.

Look what’s new in Appswell
We’ve got some great new ideas coming in for our second round. We’ve made Facebook and Twitter integration from the app even easier, so remember to share your brilliant ideas with your friends once you submit them. Even if they don’t have the app, they can still follow the links to the website to vote on your idea.
EveryDay lets you create a daily photo journal that can easily be converted into a stop animation type video.
UV Detector and Sunscreen reminder gives you personalized reminders of when to put on sun block before leaving the house.
AdoptMe shows pictures and descriptions of adoptable animals in your area.
SocialCoupon allows you to gang up with friends in real life to receive special discounts at offline businesses, like a free appetizer for a large group of diners.
Remember to show these budding entrepreneurs some love, and vote, comment, and get the word out about the ideas you want to see made!

Winners, new features, new contest and more
Appswell is happy to announce that we have our first winner, Ivebeen, with more to be announced soon. Ivebeen allows users to peg places they’ve been, upload photos and notes about those places, and share with other users. We’re also still doing a technical assessment of Universal Inbox, and hope to be able to bring you that great idea in the future as well. We’re also starting a brand new contest period that will run through January 31st. Vote counts will be reset, so now is the perfect time to get attention to your app idea, and people will be able to cast a new vote in this contest for an idea they voted for last time, so be sure to bring your friends in to vote.
Speaking of which, we have a new 1.1 version of the app in the app store that has built in Facebook integration, and the ability to see most popular ideas in the past 24 hours and one month, which will allow newer brilliant ideas to get the attention they deserve. Both of these features were recommended by our members. We continue to grow only by the efforts and contributions of our community, so please keep the feedback coming at feedback@appswell to let us know what would make Appswell even better, and please keep sharing us with your friends!

Winners to be decided 11/27
Hi Everyone,
As our first full month is drawing to a close, Appswell is excited to announce that we’re almost ready to pick our first winning ideas. We’ve had some great ideas, and can’t wait to see some great apps made from them. Voting will be open until end of day next Friday, 11/27. There’s some close competition, so come cast what could be the deciding vote.
We’ll also be launching a fresh second round on the 28th, so keep those ideas coming.
Per your request, we also have some useful new features in the works that we hope to have ready to share with you soon, including better facebook integration from the app, easier ways to share your ideas, and a way to view most popular recent ideas, to see new ideas that might be getting traction.
As always, Appswell succeeds only on the strength of our community, so please keep sharing us with your friends, and let us know your ideas on how we can get better at feedback@appswell.com, or through our blog or facebook page at www.facebook.com/appswell
Thanks,

Some great ideas, and some momentum in week 1
Great first week so far, glad to see so many great ideas, and the entrepreneurial ways people are getting the word out about their ideas. A quick look at just some of the ideas garnering votes shows a wide range of really creative ideas.
A Universal inbox for email, texts, and social media:
An App Usage monitor, to view how you use your apps, and share your favorites with friends:
Silent Emergency: One touch emergency button
I’m anxious to see who gets picked for our first round of development in the middle of November, but there’s still plenty of time to submit your idea, or reach out to a friend who might be sitting on a winner.
We’ve also had some great ideas on improvement that we’re working on:
Integration of facebook connect into the app
Ability to search on the www.appswell.com website
Opt-in push notification when you get votes or comments
Please let us know yours, either in the comments, or at feedback@appswell.com .
We’ve also seen some great methods people have found for sharing their ideas, from using the twitter or email integration on the app, or those plus the facebook and digg integration on the front page, their own blog posts, postings to relevant forums and more. Let us know any ideas you have that might work.
For having just launched, we’ve seen some great momentum, and lots of new users, and we’re getting close to breaking some of those top lists, which is when we’ll really have some fun, so please help, and spread the word!
Thanks,
Dan
